It's inevitable that we will suffer. It’s inevitable that we will be down. It’s a certainty that as we live we will be in pain. The idea that that’s a bad thing though, is what I’ve seen lead me in the past and others I know closely into pits of extremely hard to escape darkness. When we aim at ALWAYS being happy and we end up feeling sad, or angry, or anxious at one point or another, we can summarize that there’s something wrong. If we should always be happy, and we feel some of these negative feelings, we must be doing something wrong then, or life must really just suck, or the world is against us, or shit maybe all of the above. There are two things that I gave up which have helped me and close friends to me the most in life. One is the victim mentality. I'm not prey to life and circumstances, i'm the predator to the life I live. The second is, pain is bad, throw that shit away. Proactive pain is good! The more the better. What I mean in pain that is proactive is, the pain that will cause you to level up. Cutting yourself and self sabotage for example, not proactive, it's a pain, but its not leveling you up. Submitting yourself to the hardships, stresses and painful setbacks of intense physical training, or business, or academia to reach a fulfilling goal, that's proactive pain. I would summarize all this as, stop chasing happiness, that shit comes and goes like the wind. Chase purposeful fulfillment and responsibility, making things better for those around you as you live. Accept and welcome with open arms the hardships and pains of life, just like feelings, these situations are not permanent and the frame of mind in which you view life will be the frame of mind in which you live life. Fight or cower, they are both a choice and they are YOUR choice.
