Goodbye Cardio!! ....for now. I have new goals, all of which don’t require me to do long duration cardio. For years I’ve always reverted to long distance running 🏃‍♂️ cycling 🚵‍♂️ and swimming 🏊‍♂️, whether it’s a triathlon, or a single discipline event. Well not any more. Over the next 3 months I am going to work on improving my strength, range of motion and work on some callisthenics skills such as the handstand. I’ve always wanted to be able to handstand but have never dedicated any time to practising. I just keep on saying ‘I wish I could handstand’ and then did nothing 😂. To be honest I hear it a lot from people. They want something but aren’t willing to commit to the work that it takes to get there. They aren’t accountable and the easier option is not to try. Even by writing this post I am more accountable. Once I say I’m going to do something and told close friends and family what I’m doing it becomes irreversible and I don’t want to let myself and others down. This is where Personal Training plays a big part - accountability! You’ve committed to turning up for sessions. It’s a big step but the right one if you want to achieve your goal. With a PT you will get results quicker, you will become better informed, more motivated, more confident and you know what, you may even enjoy it!! 🔶Quad + Hamstring Vise Release Technique with   @markcastillo  _ . A great on the go video from   @markcastillo  _ showing how he combats tightness from long hours in the car. . 1️⃣start by placing one   @acumobility   ball under the hamstring, and a second ball placed directly on top of the quad muscle. 2️⃣then push the top ball downward creating compression of both muscles into the balls. 3️⃣ now raise and lower the leg as you continue to push down. This helps the balls dig deeper into the muscle fibers as they move through range of motion. 4️⃣do 5 reps and then move the balls a little higher up the leg. Do a total of 4-5 spots as both muscles are quite long - working from the knee up to the hip. . ⚠️this exercise is for educational purposes only. It is not intended to diagnose or treat any medical condition. The various arm positions stretch your shoulders, wrists, forearms, and upper back.⠀ ⠀ Those with back injuries should not fold completely forward, but should practice a modified version of the pose. Always work within your own range of limits and abilities. If you have any medical concerns, talk with your doctor before practicing yoga.⠀ ⠀ Instructions: •Bring your hands to your hips. Turn to the left and step your feet wide apart. Turn your toes slightly in and your heels slightly out so the edges of your feet are parallel to the edges of your mat. Align your heels. •Inhale and lengthen your torso, reaching the crown of your head up toward the ceiling. Exhaling, fold forward at the hips. Keep the front of your torso long. Drop your head and gaze softly behind you. •Bring your hands to rest on the floor between your legs. Keep your elbows bent and pointing behind you. If your hands do not come to the floor, rest them on yoga blocks. •Shift your weight slightly forward onto the balls of your feet. •Keep your hips aligned with your ankles, then walk your hands back even further. Work toward bringing your fingers in line with your toes (and eventually with your heels), and bringing your elbows directly above your wrists. •Strongly engage your quadriceps and draw them up toward the ceiling. •Lengthen your spine on your inhalations and fold deeper on your exhalations. •Bring the crown of your head down further, resting it on the floor if possible. •Hold for up to one minute. To release, bring your hands to your hips. Press firmly through your feet and inhale to lift your torso with a flat back.
