Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free Health Benefits
I’ve been GF for almost 9 years and dairy-free for 5 years. Is it a challenging lifestyle? Sometimes. Is it worth it Hell yes! Both gluten and dairy can create an inflammatory response in the body. With gluten, this reaction can show up as:
Diarrhea or Constipation
I personally have experienced ALL of those symptoms which drove me to remove both gluten and dairy from my diet and it made a world of difference for me.
So what is gluten? It’s a protein that is present in most wheat-based products, rye, and barley. Gluten is like a glue that holds food together and has been identified as one of the main causes of food sensitivity. It’s found in bread, soups, cereals, salad dressings, sauces -such as soy sauce, pasta, beer, food coloring, and malt vinegar to name a few.
Dairy refers to all fluid milk products and food made from milk (cow, sheep or goat). 2 main components in dairy that may cause a reaction when eaten are lactose (which is a sugar) and casein (a protein). Below is a list of potential health benefits of a gluten-free and dairy-free diet.
GF Diet Benefits:
Less bloating, healthier digestion, increased energy, better mood, increased mental clarity, clearer skin, improved immunity, and reduced inflammation.
Dairy-Free Diet Benefits:
Better respiration, reduce headaches, clearer skin, improved digestions, improved sense of taste and smell and improved energy.
